Dear colleagues,
Please forward this information to NGOs/youth workers/youth leaders who would be interested to take part in the Training Course "Diversity is More", which will take place in Guimarães, Portugal from 20 till 25 February 2011. The training course will be organised by the Portuguese National Agency of the Youth in Action Programme.
This TC will create opportunities to reflect and to build different perspectives on the migration processes, towards a better understanding and tolerance among the different stakeholders. It will be an opportunity to feel empowered and inspired to develop a new strategy.
Profile of the participant we are looking for:
- Young people or youth leaders migrants of with migrant background involved in organizations (or willing to be involved in such projects);
- Basic knowledge and some experience on implementing Youth in Action program;
- English basic knowledge is needed (reflection and conversations);
- Motivated people to develop and follow-up this topic within their organization
Objectives of the training course:
- To create a space to reflect about the impact of migration flows in Europe (why do people migrate?; different influences on the person, the original community and the hosting country; challenges and opportunities of migration);
- To build a bridge between past experiences and present challenges of migrant communities (building personal and community identity through migration experiences – historical memory);
- To empower young people to develop projects among organizations in the framework of Youth in Action Program (how to tackle migration issues in a inclusive way, showcase of best practices, sharing project ideas and partner finding).
The Portuguese National Agency invites 4 participants from Eastern Europe and Caucasus! Travel and accommodation costs will be covered!
